Current Research Description

Dr. Saygin studies the structural and functional architecture of the human brain, and how it develops and changes with typical or adverse experience. Her research program combines methods in computational, cognitive, and clinical neuroscience, including fMRI, diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), functional connectivity, behavioral and clinical assessments, and computational modeling. She is particularly interested in the core neuroanatomy and functional organization of the brain that is present early in life, and using these to predict neural responses and behavioral outcomes in the same individual later in life.  She is also interested in identifying early neural markers that can predict later clinical outcome and that may shape or constrain the plasticity induced by adverse experience or brain trauma.
