Neuroscience Scholarship Fund

The Neuroscience Scholarship Fund provides financial support for graduate students who have faced significant adversity in their personal journey to or during graduate school. This scholarship is intended to help students who have faced steep barriers that limit their ability to access, compete for or manage graduate-level opportunities. This includes:

  • first-generation students
  • students returning after an absence
  • students who participate in organizations open to all whose missions seek to advance the need of historically underserved patient populations
  • students who have faced significant barriers or who have faced socioeconomic disadvantages in their lives, such as:
    • Homeless at some point in their life
    • In the foster care system at some point in their life
    • Were eligible for the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program for two or more years
    • Are a first-generation student
    • Were eligible for Pell Grants
    • Received support from the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) as a parent or child
  • students who grew up in one of the following areas: a) a U.S. rural area, as designated by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Rural Health Grants Eligibility Analyzer (https://data.hrsa.gov/tools/rural-health), or b) a Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services-designated Low-Income and Health Professional Shortage Area

To be eligible for the fund, you must be included in at least one of these categories and state as such on the application.

This scholarship supports student costs for aspects of the NGP training and education, such as:

  • Travel to present data at national and international conferences
  • Attend local and national workshops on networking and career development
  • Unforeseen personal expenses such as medical expenses, moving expenses, computer/IT needs
