Congrats to Meretta Hanson!
Meretta recently completed her PhD in Dr. Jason Wester's lab, where she studied the development and function of hippocampal neural circuits that are necessary for learning and memory. These studies included examining the molecular mechanisms controlling neuronal differentiation and synapse development, optogenetic mapping of synapses from hippocampal projections to other brain regions, and visualization of neuronal function in awake behaving mice. Next, Meretta is excited to join the lab of Dr. Gyorgy Lur at UC Irvine as a Hewitt Postdoctoral Fellow, where she will study the organization and function of cell-type-specific circuits in the posterior parietal cortex.
