“Short-term high fat diet impairs memory, exacerbates the neuroimmune response, and evokes synaptic degradation via a complement-dependent mechanism in a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease”  2024 Brain, Behaviour and Immunity

Using different behavioral assays, quantitative PCR, and in vitro analyses, evidence is provided that high-fat diet impairs memory and this correlates with elevated levels of markers for neuroinflammation in a mouse model of Alzheimer’s disease. Evidence is provided that a high fat diet stimulates the phagocytic activity of immune cells and this increased activity can be suppressed by including a complement receptor inhibitor in the diet.
