Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Current Research Description

Dr. Cao's laboratory has characterized a novel brain-fat axis underlying the anti-obesity and anticancer phenotypes involved in a complex physical/social environment. Her team is using multidisciplinary approaches to further define this axis, identify molecular mediators linking nervous, immune, and endocrine systems across lifespan. Research in this area is also aimed to foster genetic and pharmacological approaches to combat obesity, metabolic syndrome, aging, and cancer.
